The vote to update a 2002 resolution that was passed in the wake of 9/11 was overwhelming, calling for solidarity with Israel. The 2010 version was sponsored by State Representative Susan Lynn and was the brainchild of Nashville-based Proclaiming Justice to the Nations (PJTN). That organization's president, Laurie Cardoza-Moore, says showing support for God's chosen people is timely in light of the recent efforts of the Obama administration to browbeat Israel over its decision to move forward with the construction of Jewish settlements in east Jerusalem.
"Israel will be front and center because in Genesis 12:3 the Lord told Abraham, 'I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you' -- and if we think that this nation is not going to be cursed because of the stand that we're taking, we are fooling ourselves," she warns. "And that's why we're trying to educate Christians to stand with our Jewish brethren."
We must stand up for Israel.
