f you harbor any doubts about the reality of climate change, perhaps you have not read the persuasive argument presented in a Time magazine piece which offers a “grim premonition” of what is happening to our Earth. “As they review the bizarre and unpredictable weather pattern of the past several years,” the article notes, “…a growing number of scientists are beginning to suspect that many seemingly contradictory meteorological fluctuations are actually part of a global climatic upheaval.” This message may sound familiar – until you consider this: The Time magazine article was published on June 24, 1974 and suggested the Earth is cooling…not warming. A parade of climatologists and a stream of statistics quoted by Time advanced the notion that the coming “ice age” would be “extremely serious, if not catastrophic.”
Evangelical Christians in America are often lampooned for challenging some scientific theories, yet when scientists broadcast conclusions that prove to be spectacularly wrong – as they often do – not much is said about it. A particular challenge is the theory formerly known as global warming, now called “climate change.” Discerning what is scientific truth, as opposed to political correctness, is difficult in an age when ecology has become a veritable religion.
As you prayerfully consider your stewardship of the Earth, let your foundation be the Holy Scriptures – and may your motivation be to gain the favor of God, not man.
Excellent article!
